Hervey Bay airport is the main airport for the city of Hervey Bay in Queensland and the upgraded airport was opened in 2005 after $11.5 million dollars was spent on the construction of a new terminal and the improvement of the main runway. The airport is located 12 km’s from central Hervey Bay and is serviced by several of the main airlines operating in Australia including Jetstar and Virgin Blue and daily flights are available between Hervey Bay and Brisbane. Currently there are plans in the works to prepare the airport for increased passenger numbers and possibly more services from other east-coast cities like Sydney and Melbourne. The city Hervey Bay offers a variety of activities, but with the tropical climate of Queensland the beaches may be the most appealing. With a travelling time of 3.5 hours the scenic drive from Hervey Bay to Brisbane is highly recommended. |
