Kununurra airport is located about 4 kilometers from the Western Australian town of Kununurra. The town is the largest town in Western Australia north of Broome and is approximately 3000 kilometers from Perth. The town is relatively new as it was only established in the 1950s, but it has close to 4000 inhabitants with a large number of them being indigenous Australians. Kununurra have several sights worth seeing although it is definitely most suited for people with a taste for the outdoors. The town and surrounding areas have waterfalls, gorges and ranges worth seeing in addition to the Celebrity Tree Park with trees planted by famous people including Baz Luhrmann. Kununurra airport is fairly small and is currently only served by Airnorth and Skywest Airlines, but charter airlines also operate out of the airport. |
