Mildura Airport is located 11 km’s from the city of Mildura, it was originally established in 1942 as a training centre for the Australian Air Force during the Second World War. The airport is currently the busiest regional airport in Vicotria with over 180,000 passengers both arriving and departing every year. Many of the passengers choose the 1.5 hour flight from Melbourne over the 6 hours drive, but it may be worth the effort to make your way through little townships like Merbein, Irymple or Red Cliffs as you take the long way down towards Melbourne. Mildura’s main industry is fruit-farming so when you are flying in towards the airport you will see rows and rows of grape wines only interrupted by the fields of citrus fruits. |
