Tasmania Rental Car
Tasmania is the only state in Australia that is an island separated from the mainland by the sea of Bass Strait. It is around 240km’s from the east coast of Victoria. A common misconception about Tasmania is that it is one island, however surprisingly the state of Tasmania also includes several smaller islands that surround the main island. Nearly half of the state is made up of natural reserves and state national parks. The population of Tasmania is close to 500,000, and while the state has several population areas they cannot however compete in size and population with that of larger cities on mainland Australia. Hobart is the capital of Tasmania. Launceston, Devonport and Burnie are all significant towns within the state. Tasmania is known as ‘The Natural State,’ primarily due to its unique natural environment and wildlife. Tourism is important for the Tasmanian economy, more recently the state has seen a rise in the number of tourists opting for car holidays as the climate is well suited for driving and distances between major destinations is relatively short compared to that of other destinations in Australia.
